Inle - toque

Inle (also Erinle) is the Orisha of fishing, medicine, and the boundary between fresh and salt water. He is associated with healing, beauty, and the natural world.

The Orisha

Inle is considered exceptionally beautiful — a healer who works at the meeting point of fresh and salt water, bridging the domains of Ochún (rivers) and Yemayá (ocean). He is both doctor and fisherman: providing physical nourishment through fish and spiritual healing through medicine.

The Toque

Inle's toque is more specialized and less universal than those of the major Orishas:

• Less commonly heard in general ceremonies — Inle's rituals are more specific to devotees who receive him
• The rhythm has a fluid, gentle quality — reflecting his connection to water and healing
• Character: calm, flowing, precise — like the patience required for fishing

Ceremony Context

Because Inle is considered a "deeper" Orisha (not received by everyone), his toque appears primarily in ceremonies specifically dedicated to him or in güemilere celebrations where the full sequence of Orishas is honored.

He is associated with Abatá, a female Orisha companion, and his rituals sometimes involve both figures together.
